Code of Conduct

Our club exists to create a welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable gaming environment for everyone. By attending our sessions, all members agree to follow these guidelines that help maintain the friendly atmosphere we’re known for.

Respect and Inclusivity

We are an inclusive community. We welcome people of all backgrounds, experience levels, and identities. We expect all attendees to be respectful, courteous, and demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times.

Discriminatory behaviour has no place here. We maintain zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, or offensive language based on race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other personal characteristic.

Be patient with new players. We love introducing people to new games. Help create a supportive learning environment by being patient, encouraging, and willing to explain rules or strategies.

Handle disagreements respectfully. Rules disputes and competitive moments happen. Address them calmly, refer to rulebooks when needed, and remember that having fun together is more important than winning.

Age and Supervision Policy

All ages are welcome with appropriate supervision and behaviour expectations.

Children under 18 must be supervised by a parent, guardian, or designated responsible adult at all times.

Young players must demonstrate the ability to participate appropriately in tabletop games, follow game rules, and respect other players and equipment.

Guardians are responsible for their children’s behaviour and any damage caused to games or venue property.

Games and Equipment

All games deserve respect whether they belong to the club, venue, or individual members. Handle all components with care.

Pack up properly. Ensure all pieces are returned to their correct places and games are stored neatly. Don’t bend cards, force pieces into slots, or leave components loose in boxes.

Report damage immediately. If you accidentally damage a game component, please inform the game owner or club organizers right away. Accidents happen, but transparency helps us address issues quickly.

Food and Drink Guidelines

Keep games clean and safe. Please consume messy snacks (chips, chocolate, anything with powder or grease) away from gaming tables. Nobody wants their favourite game decorated with fingerprints or food residue. Cheeto dust and boardgames do not mix!

Exercise caution with beverages. Keep drinks away from game boards and components. Consider using bottles with secure lids rather than open cups.

Clean up spills immediately and alert others if any game components may have been affected.

Venue Respect

Support our hosts. Our venue partners make our club possible. Please support Maisie Gray Arts & Crafts by purchasing food and drinks from their café during regular sessions.

Follow venue policies. This includes their rules about outside food and beverages, noise levels, and facility use.

Leave spaces better than you found them. Help clean up at the end of sessions, return furniture to its proper place, and dispose of any trash.

Gaming Etiquette

Be inclusive in game selection. Consider other players’ experience levels and preferences when choosing games. Aim for a mix that works for your group.

Share the spotlight. Don’t dominate conversations or repeatedly insist on playing only your favourite games. Make space for others’ preferences and ideas.

Help with setup and clean-up. Pitch in when setting up or packing away games, especially if you’re joining a game someone else brought.

Photography and Social Media

Games are fair game for photography. Feel free to capture and share photos of game setups, components, or your favourite moments from games.

Members require permission. Always ask before photographing or filming other club members. Respect anyone who prefers not to be in photos or videos.

Consider others’ privacy when posting to social media. What happens at game club doesn’t need to be broadcast unless everyone involved is comfortable with it.

Personal Belongings and Property

Respect others’ possessions. Treat other members’ games, bags, and personal items with the same care you’d want for your own belongings.

You are responsible for your own items. The club and venue accept no responsibility for lost, damaged, or stolen personal belongings. Please keep valuables secure and don’t leave items unattended.

Ask before borrowing anything that doesn’t belong to the club, even if it seems minor.

Trading and Sales Between Members

Personal trading and selling is welcome between club members. We love seeing games find new homes and helping members build their collections.

All transactions are private arrangements. The club accepts no responsibility for disputes, payment issues, or problems with traded or sold items.

Business sales are not permitted. Club sessions are not appropriate for commercial selling activities or business promotions unless part of an event specifically designed to include businesses. This is a space for personal hobby sharing, not retail operations.

Keep it discreet. While trading is fine, don’t let sales discussions dominate gaming time or make others feel pressured to buy or sell.

Consequences

First approach: friendly reminder. Our community is built on mutual respect, and most issues can be resolved with a gentle conversation.

Continued problems may result in a private discussion with club organizers about expectations and appropriate behaviour.

Serious or repeated violations may result in temporary or permanent removal from club activities.

Safety concerns will be addressed immediately and may result in immediate removal from the session.
